The artist, Gene Berman, is a woodcarver who specializes in carving human figures, walking sticks and birds of prey. His favorite media are basswood, tupelo and acrylic paint finishes. Although primarily self-taught, he has studied at the American Wood Carving School in Wayne, New Jersey. Since 1990, he has honed his skills using a combination of hand and power tools. His efforts have resulted in his capturing many first place and best of category awards. He currently enjoys mentoring and teaching carvers at the Boynton Beach Florida Woodcarvers club. Gene was honored by the City of Boynton Beach, Florida as one of their 2019 Volunteer Heroes. Gene accepts private commissions for custom carvings.
