The artist, Gene Berman, is a woodcarver who specializes in carving human figures, walking sticks and birds of prey. His favorite media are basswood, tupelo and acrylic paint finishes. Although primarily self-taught, he has studied at the American Wood Carving School in Wayne, New Jersey. Since 1990, he has honed his skills using a combination of hand and power tools.
